Jean-Louis BOUCHARD, Chairman and CEO of the Econocom Group
Jean-Louis Bouchard comes from a long line of civil and military servants of the State. He studied at the Prytanée National Militaire High School, in preparation for the Ecole Navale, and then joined the Ecole Nationale Supérieure du Génie Maritime.
As a naval architect with a passion for the sea, he quickly turned his career to digital technology, working for IBM in Europe and the United States.
In 1974, he created the Econocom group with the visionary idea of making computer technology accessible to companies by offering them second-hand equipment for rent. Over 45 years, he developed the group in technological and industrial financing, equipment distribution and digital services by anticipating major technological innovations. Econocom has accompanied the development of digital technology in many economic and industrial sectors, and the transport sector in particular: cars industry, rail industry and aviation.
Since 2017, the group has been a partner of the company Les Abeilles, for which it financed ships before becoming the only shareholder in September 2020.
Samira Draoua, President of Les Abeilles International
Graduated from Les Arts et Métiers, Dauphine and INSEAD, Samira Draoua has built her career on three main axes: the finance sector, international development and new technologies.
After managing major strategic accounts at BNP Paribas Leasing, she joined the Cisco group to develop and manage the Cisco Capital department before joining the Econocom group in 2012.
There she created Econocom’s International Development Department, through which the group strengthened its leadership on the European, American and South-East Asian markets, before becoming General Manager of the financing activity for Econocom France.
Accompanying Les Abeilles since 2017 in their refinancing, Samira was appointed President of the company in October 2020, in addition to her duties as General Manager of the Financing activity for Econocom France.
As the first woman to chair the company, Samira Draoua brings to Les Abeilles a great expertise in international development and digitalization acquired over a 25-years career, as well as a solid knowledge of environmental issues.

Pascal Potrel, Managing Director of Les Abeilles International
Pascal POTREL graduated from the Ecole Nationale de la Marine Marchande in 1987, and obtained his 1st class Maritime Navigation Captain’s certificate in 1995.
He joined Les Abeilles International in 1992 as an officer and held various positions before becoming Master of the Abeille LANGUEDOC in 2001.
In 2005, he took command of the Abeille LIBERTE. At the same time, Salvage Officer and then Salvage Master in 2001, he took over the management of the Abeille salvage team in 2014.
He has been Managing Director since 1 January 2016.
The headquarters team
To carry out the company’s missions and development, the head office team is made up of 9 people from different backgrounds (former Master, chief engineer, lawyer & HR, etc.). The strength of this multipurpose team is that it is always available for emergency operations at sea.
The head office has been located in Le Havre since the historical creation of Les Abeilles in 1864.
